Adaikkanaathaar (Adaikkalamkaathaar) is a local place of worship in an open area on the eastern bank of Adaikkanaathaar pond. It is located in the northeastern part of Mannankadu village in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India. According to elders of the village, this prayer location was once in the midst of thick vegetation. Even a few decades ago, this area had dense growth. Used for public human bathing the pond (Kulam) had fairly wide banks lined with trees. Currently the entire area is nearly barren. The wide eastern embankment of the pond is now removed and a makeshift earthen partition has replaced it. This latter modification cannot withstand any pressure that will be exerted by water, if the pond is allowed to its past capacity. Due to these developments this Adaikkanaathaar worship location is confined to a mound of few square meters surrounded by sparse bush and a few palm trees.

Close-up view of sanctorum, the main prayer pedestal of the Adaikkanaathaar worship area. No statue was in this location earlier. These Pillaiyaar (Lord Ganesh) figurines appear to be an anomaly and may be the consequence of practice of new non-native festival in recent years in the village.

Life-size horse and other statues adorn the eastern part of worship area.

Adaikkanaathaar worship place is located on this mound on the eastern bank of the Adaikkanaathaar Kulam.

Another part of the eastern bank was the walkway that connects the Adaikkanaathaar worship mound with the nearest road. Due to the removal of this walkway, there is no direct access to the worship place anymore.

The general view of the Adaikkanaathaar worship location as seen from the northwestern corner of the bank of the Kulam. Since most of the eastern bank (the walkway) has been removed, the once expansive pond can no longer be filled to its past capacity. It is now a shallow grazing area.
